Haverhill’s Councils

Haverhill Town Council
Formed in 1989 to campaign on behalf of Haverhill and to represent the views of Haverhill to other authorities.
The town council has the power of a parish council and seeks to work with the local community and especially community groups to provide better facilities in Haverhill. Town council meeting are held bi-monthly on the last Tuesday of the month and always start with a public question time.

St. Edmundsbury Borough Council
Covers the towns of Haverhill and Bury St. Edmunds and a large area of the surrounding countryside. The borough council is responsible for: housing and housing repairs, council tax collection, electoral registration, planning, leisure services, car parks, cemetry and sheltered accommodation for the elderly.

Responsible for: education, social services, fire, highways, libraries and much more.
