Married to Lyn with two children Owen and Stacey.

I spend much of my spare time on local government business. My responsibilities have included: Borough Council leader, Town Mayor, chair of County Council Libraries and Heritage Committee, member of Eastern Arts Board, member of Suffolk Police Authority.

My real passion in local government is around the library service. Libraries continue to provide oppotunities for the whole community to take part in education, to enjoy entertainment and to access to information about their community.

My biggest use of free time is watching Cambridge United. You will find me at home matches with my son in the family stand and often in far flung areas of the country as an away supporter.

After watching football with my son, walking with my wife is the next greatest user of my time. While walking in the hills is most enjoyable there are many fine walks near Haverhill and in other parts of the East Anglian countryside.

Last on my list of interests is IT/ICT. The use of new technology to improve our lives is never far from my mind. From my Palm Pilot to the world wide web I am hooked.
