Haverhill Town Council was formed in 1989 to campaign on behalf, and to represent the views, of the town to other local authorities, a role it continues to pursue. Subsequently it has developed to become a major provider of arts and leisure activities within the town including, since 2004, operation of Haverhill Arts Centre, a multi-use theatre/cinema/dance/exhibition venue. The Town Council supports local organisations and grants are awarded twice a year. The application process is easy and forms can be obtained from the Arts Centre. Full Council and Committee meetings are held in the Arts Centre studio most Tuesday evenings. There is a public forum at Full Council meetings where members of the public are invited to raise issues of concern. The agendas and minutes of all these meetings can be viewed elsewhere on this website. The Town Mayor is elected annually each May, and is always happy to support local groups and attend special events. The Mayor's Secretary can be contacted at the Arts Centre.
