£500 Grants to Generate Home Energy

Tuesday, 21st July 2009.

Grants worth up to £500 are on offer to St Edmundsbury home owners interested in generating their own energy.

Coinciding with national Climate Change Week (from 13 to 18 July), St Edmundsbury Borough council will be launching the Renewable Energy Grant, available on a first come first served basis, for homes that haven’t yet had any renewable energy technologies installed. The grant is worth £500 per energy generating type installed, and covers a broad range among them ground source heat pumps, solar thermal hot water, biomass heaters and air source heat pumps.

Cllr Sara Mildmay-White, St Edmundsbury Borough Council Cabinet Member for Community said,
“The climate change challenge can be tackled by individuals as well as organisations taking action and responsibility and I urge residents to take this excellent opportunity to make a substantial difference to their carbon footprint.”

The grant is being offered from the 1 August 2009 by St Edmundsbury Borough Council through its partner Suffolk Energy Action Link (SEAL). To find out more contact SEAL free on 0800 0288938.
