Appeal for witnesses to Strasbourg Square incidents

Monday, 7th June 2010.

Police have today appealed for information about two incidents in Strasbourg Square in Haverhill last week in which people were injured.

The first happened around 10pm on Wednesday when a man and two women were assaulted by a man on the nearby grassed area.

The group, including two other men, were sitting on benches when the man approached and shouted at them in a foreign language before assaulting one of the men who suffered facial injuries.

Two women approached and spoke to the man before the group ran off. The two women remained and were then assaulted by the man.

One suffered minor facial injuries and the other was unhurt. The man was then collected from the car park in a car and police want to hear from anyone who may have seen this vehicle.

The man is described as white, 6ft tall, of stocky build, in his early 20s with very short light brown hair and was wearing three-quarter-length shorts and a white vest.

Calls in relation to this incident should be made to Sgt Mel Leaman at Haverhill Police on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Then between 12.45pm and 1.05pm on Friday a woman suffered a minor wound to her shoulder after an unknown object was thrown or fired at her.

Calls in relation to this incident should be made to PC Andrew Green at Haverhill Police on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
