ASB order on Strasbourg Square property discharged

Thursday, 23rd June 2011.

Magistrates at Bury St Edmunds have today discharged the Anti-Social Behaviour Closure order on 4 Strasbourg Square, Haverhill, on application by Suffolk police.

This was made at the request of Havebury Housing who own the property and want to re-let it to a new tenant.

The previous tenant was evicted and the magistrates were satisfied after hearing evidence from Sgt Sarah Bartley that the order was no longer necessary.

No further incidents had been reported and no further complaints had been received by the police about the property.

The order was originally granted on April 19 and would have expired on July 19. The order was pursued by police as part of concerted efforts to deal with anti-social behaviour by young people in the Strasbourg Square area.

At a recent public meeting of the Haverhill Safer Neighbourhood Team, it was reported that the problem in that particular area was much imprtoved, mal;though it continuied across other areas of the Chalkstone estate.
