Befriending Scheme starts free course in Haverhill

Thursday, 8th November 2012.

The Befriending Scheme, which provides friendship and learning opportunities for adults, will be offering a new free Works4U course from the Haverhill Community Centre in Strasbourg Square starting later this month.

The eight-week programme, starting on Friday, November 23, at 10.15am, will help learners to think about a positive future and achieve a positive plan of action.

Students will have the opportunity to recognise their own learning and gain a nationally recognised City & Guilds qualification.

The course has been designed to be practical, holistic, welcoming and non-threatening, and provides the student with a variety of tools that will equip them to make better job applications.

Learners with support will be able to develop new opportunities for themselves during the programme.

Chief executive officer Shirley Moore said: “This is a very exciting time for The Befriending Scheme and we are delighted to be able offer this course, extending the range of our support services.

"This will be the first of several courses that will be happening in Haverhill over the coming months which are planned to deal with some very real issues in an innovative way.”

Anyone interested in attending the course or would like to receive further information should contact Ruth Barton on 07757082310 or email: ruth.barton@thebefriendingscheme.org.uk
