Burglars target properties in town again

Thursday, 31st January 2013.

Haverhill police are appealing for information from the public after more burglaries in the town.

The St John Ambulance Headquarters in Burton End were broken into and a gas bottle stolen sometime between 8pm on January 23 and 7.50pm yesterday.

A roof tile was removed from a garage roof and an ambulance within was then entered via a sky light, searched and a D1 size Entonox gas bottle used for medical purposes was stolen from within.

Calls should be made to PC Richard Oldroyd at Haverhill Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Between 7.30pm and 8pm on Tuesday, a utility room of a home in Withersfield Road was entered via an unlocked back door.

A handbag, purse and laptop were all stolen from the room before the burglar left, making no further searches.

Police again remind people to keep doors and windows locked, even when inside the property.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Bury St Edmunds CID on 101 quoting HH/13/263 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

* A rucksack was stolen from a van in Greenfields Way on Monday afternoon.

The incident happened at 2.25pm while a Vauxhall Combo van was parked there. Someone got in and stole the Berghaus rucksack containing a set of Bose headphones, a mug and a DVD.

A witness saw two 15-year-old male youths, one with dark hair and wearing a brown coat and the other wearing a baseball cap, take the rucksack from the van.

Anyone who has information in relation to this or knows the whereabouts of the rucksack and contents is asked to call PC Richard Oldroyd at Haverhill Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
