Bury bus service operator claims a hit

Wednesday, 21st September 2011.

The operators of a new bus service in Haverhill are already claiming a hit just two weeks after it began.

Stephensons, who took over the former Burtons Coaches earlier this year after it went into administration, added a new section to its hourly service from Haverhill to Bury St Edmunds, to include parts of the Chalkstone and Roman way estates.

The new link has proved a hit with customers, according to Stephensons' managing director Bill Hiron.

He said: “From September 5 we improved our popular hourly Haverhill–Bury St Edmunds service to run from Haverhill Bus Station via Millfields and Roman Way, then via a more direct route to Bury St Edmunds (with peak time journeys serving West Suffolk College as well as the town centre).

"The new link has been a hit with our customers, especially in conjunction with our great value ‘Rainbow’ fares, with return to Bury from as little as £5.”

Timetables are available from the Stephensons website at stephensonsofessex.com or from bus drivers.
