Business people take a look at newest pub restaurant

Tuesday, 20th May 2014.

The Flying Shuttle, Haverhillís newest pub restaurant, welcomed over 50 local business people to thebestof Haverhill monthly networking event last week.

The event gave general manager Shona Mulvaney and her team the opportunity to showcase what the facility has to offer the local business community.

Shona gave an insight into her background explaining that she had joined Marstonís PLC in February and was specifically recruited to run The Flying Shuttle.

With more than 15 years' experience in the pub/restaurant trade Shona had previously worked in establishments in Leicester Square and Stansted.

She had been attracted to the position with Marstonís because she recognised the opportunities that the location on the Haverhill Research Park had to offer.

Marstonís traces its history back to 1890 and the amalgamation of three local breweries based in Wolverhampton and Dudley.

The company has traded under the Marstonís brand since 1999 and now manages over 2,100 pubs and restaurants across the country.

Marstonís is engaged in a significant capital expenditure programme and is currently opening around 15-20 new pubs a year.

The Flying Shuttle is part of the Milestone Rotisserie format and offers an extensive range of pub restaurant meals and a fresh chicken rotisserie.

The pub represents an investment of £3.5million and has created around 50 jobs.

Elaine Carr, owner of thebestof Haverhill, said: ďWe had a great event at The Flying Shuttle, it was very well attended and there was a real buzz in the room.

"It is a lovely facility for Haverhill and everyone was impressed at the high quality of the decor and fit-out. Shona and her team made us very welcome and were excellent hosts.

"You wouldnít have known that they had only opened just over a week before and that thebestof meeting was their first corporate event.

"It was very busy but the team took it all in their stride. Marstonís have made a huge investment in Haverhill and Iím sure it will pay off. It is fantastic to see the Haverhill Research Park coming to life.Ē
