Car damage linked with jewellery theft

Tuesday, 19th January 2010.

A car window smashed in Tasman Road, Haverhill, early on Monday morning is being linked with the theft of jewellery from a Lexus parked in Clare.

The green Lexus was on Clare's market square and not locked when thieves stole a holdall from it between 3.30am and 4.30am.

A silver Vauxhall Astra was then seen to pull up in Nethergate Street and the holdall was thrown from the car before two white men, wearing dark coloured hooded tops, got out and started looking in the windows of nearby houses.

They then got back into the car and drove off. Two jewellery boxes were found to be missing from the Lexus.

Two hours later two men, aged around 20 and wearing hooded tops, were seen to smash a window in a blue Seat Toledo parked in Tasman Road, Haverhill, before walking off along Chalkstone Way.

Anyone with information about this can call PC Dan Steel at Haverhill Police on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Anyone who can help with information about the Clare theft should call PC Rebecca Gardiner at Haverhill Police on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
