Catalytic converter thieves strike in town again

Monday, 9th December 2013.

Police are appealing for witnesses after three vans had their catalytic converters stolen in Haverhill.

The thefts all took place overnight between Tuesday, December 3, and Wednesday, December 4.

Two Mercedes Sprinter vans, one parked in the street in Allington Walk and the other in Rushmere Place, along with a Mercedes Luton van parked in Hundon Place, all had their converters stolen.

Anyone with information about these thefts is asked to contact Haverhill Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Owners of vans and 4x4s are invited to a catalytic converter marking event to be held in Bury St Edmunds this week.

The marking, which is offered free of charge, will take place between 9am and 1pm on Thursday and will be held at the West Suffolk House Depot Building, Olding Road, off Western Way.

No appointment is necessary, but anyone who would like further information about the marking or to enquire as to whether their vehicle is suitable should contact the Bury East/West Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101.
