Catie leads the way in ladies golf medal

The Ladies Saturday Medal at Haverhill Golf Club, played on December 5, was another successful day for Catie Heathfield, who was the clear winner by four shots.
The full results were: 1 Catie Heathfield nett 73; 2 Doreen Darbey nett 77 on countback from 3 Lyn Fish nett 77.
There were two medals this week for the men. The first was played on Wednesday, December 9, where Duncan Galloway had a tremendous round with the lowest gross score of 73, playing off 11.
He has subsequently reduced his handicap to nine, and the full results were as follows: Division One - 1 Duncan Galloway 73-11-62; 2 Dennis Harkness 74-7-67; 3 Stuart King 84-12-72. Division Two - 1 Graham Hepworth 91-20-71; 2 Joe Davis 86-15-71; 3 John Annand 92-20-72. Division Three - 1 Roger Hartley 95-28-67; 2 Stephen Bush 95-25-70; 3 Duncan Watson 97-26-71.
On December 12 there was another good turnout for the Saturday Medal, with Dave Nicholas winning overall with a great score of nett 65. The full results were: Division One - 1 Eric Kiddle 75-9-66; 2 Chris Vince 75-6-69 on countback; 3 Lee Chandler 75-6-69. Division Two -1 Dave Nicholas 84-19-65; 2 Graham Kennedy 79-13-66; 3 Roger Wheatley 86-20-66. Division Three - 1 Roger Peyton 100-26-74; 2 Derek Olive 103-26-77; 3 Martin Mansfield 101-21-80.
Congratulations go to Haverhill Junior, Liam Merritt who won the December Junior Medal with a very impressive nett 65. He has now reduced his handicap by three, and plays off 18. The full results were: 1 Liam Merritt 86-21-65; 2 Michael Perrett 92-18-74; 3 Thomas Marsh 85-7-78.
