Celebrate jubilee at big bash

HAVERHILL’S main event to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee year takes place at the Recreation Ground on Sunday with a bumper Jubilee Bash,
A packed program of events takes place from 11am to 5pm, with the LAMPH Wheelbarrow Race starting from the White Hart pub at 1230pm and the Round Table Fun Run starting in Camps Road at 11am. Roads in and around the town centre will he closed from 11am to 2pm for these events.
Entertainment on the
Recreation Ground will be in three main areas with a music stage, an arts area and children’s shows.
The Big Beatles, a ten-foot high, stilt walking Fab Four dressed in Sgt Pepper outfits will be one of the most striking acts, giving a show at l2.lSpm and on walkabout during the afternoon. There will also be music from the past 50 years by Decades, local poster Kirsten— live, and Haverhill Silver Band.
In the arts area there will be a chance to contribute to a giant Jubilee mural on a
massive 36ft by 2Oft canvas, crown making workshops for kids and an artist drawing caricatures.
New Wesley Theatre will present their Daisy Jones and the Jellybean Conspiracy show for kids aged five to 105 and the Dad’s Army will be looking for new recruits.
There will also be displays by Haverhill Harlots Morris Dancers and Sapphire Majorettes, plus charity stalls, a giant car boot sale, children’s rides and inflatable.
Town Council Leisure
Manager Nick Keeble said the Jubilee Bash was a chance for all the family to celebrate. He said. We have tried to ~ me for all ages and encourage people to enter the jubilee spirit by bringing along their flags, hats and other jubilee paraphernalia.
