Scouts from the Haverhill travelled have defended their title as best scouts in the Sudbury district - and lifted another trophy at the same time.

During a weekend in October, three scouts from the 1st Haverhill Scout Troop travelled to Bures to defend their title at the District Commissioner's Challenge and also won the Pioneering trophy for knots and lashings

A total of ten teams from the Stour Valley Sudbury District were showing their skills in camp craft and orienteering, camping overnight and catering for themselves.

On the Saturday afternoon, a separate pioneering competition was held to test the skills of the teams creating a camping gadget using lashings and knots.

On the Sunday, the 1st Haverhill team were happy to find out that they had won the pioneering competition, but this was then topped by winning the overall DC Challenge title.
