Chance to fix up a quick date for Valentine's Day

Monday, 20th January 2014.

A speed dating evening is being organised on the evening of Wednesday, January 29 at the Rose and Crown in Haverhill, timed to fit neatly with the run-up to Valentine's Day on February 14.

This dating method gives a chance to single men and women to meet, pair up and chat for five minutes, then when a bell rings the men move on to the next mini-date. Organisers say it is safe, fun and quicker than dating on the Internet.

Participants have a scorecard on which they can take notes for reference. After they've speed-dated everyone in the room participants fill in a form.

They write down who they found interesting or not and if their picks feel the same then the organisers will pass on contact details.

The organisers will compile the information from everyone's form to determine who matches up. If two people mutually checked 'YES', then that's a match.

Participants receive a private e-mail within three days of the event listing the first names and contact details of the people they match with. From there, it's up to them to contact one another to learn more about each other and set up another date.

There will also be a raffle with two winners, a woman and a man, who will meet for a blind date - a free meal offered by the Crown and Rose

Organisers say speed dating is a fast and smart matchmaking process and it gives you a chance to meet a lot of people in one evening.

The only restrictions are that participants must be over 18 and single.
