Charity shops targeted by burglars

Monday, 1st March 2010.

Another charity shop in Haverhill has been targeted by thieves.

Just a week after the Debra shop in Queen Street was broken into and jewellery from the office and cash from charity boxes stolen, a similar burglary has taken place at the St Nicholas Hospice shop in High Street.

It happened between 1.15pm Wednesday and 8.50am on Thursday. Thieves have broke in by smashing a window and stole jewellery.

The burglary is being linked by police to two other High Street incidents on the same night, a burglary at the new Bar Vu wine bar, and an attempted burglary of another charity shop.

Alcohol and cash were stolen from Bar Vu, after forcing a window, but attempts to force a window and a door at the charity shop failed.

Calls in relation to all the charity shop incidents should be made to Sgt Sarah Bartley at the Haverhill Safer Neighbourhood Team on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Anyone who can help on the Bar Vu incident should call PC Jake Lees at Haverhill Police on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
