Christmas a time of GIVE-ing at Genzyme

Tuesday, 22nd December 2009.

Employees at Genzyme in Haverhill have presented a cheque for £2,886 to St Nicholas’ Hospice in Bury St Edmunds, as the culmination of a fund raising challenge set by the organisation’s operations across the globe.

In addition, staff contributed over 100 hours' worth of volunteering activity at the hospice helping with maintenance work.

The endeavour was part of Genzyme’s global volunteer programme – Genzyme Invests in Volunteer Efforts (GIVE), which inspires its employees worldwide to volunteer for initiatives in their local communities.

Genzyme’s community relations team in Haverhill organised a series of fund raising events throughout the summer in support of the hospice which was the company’s chosen charity this year.

Abby Hunt, representing St Nicholas Hospice, said: “Genzyme have been a massive support to St Nicholas Hospice Care during 2009 - offering enthusiasm and generosity across a number of different fund raising challenges.

"It has been my privilege to work with a team of such determined professionals, and I hope for our relationship to continue during 2010.”
