Climb aboard for a healthier lifestyle

Friday, 6th August 2010.

People in Haverhill will be given all the help and inspiration they need to follow a healthier, greener lifestyle when a health bus visits later this month.

Suffolk County Council's Creating The Greenest County team will be joining up with Healthy Ambitions Suffolk to take the bus on the road to show how a small lifestyle change can make a huge difference to your health, and to your pocket.

The interactive bus is travelling around the county and will be on Haverhill market square from 10am to 4pm on Monday, August 16.

It has a variety of features and activities including age progression software that can show people how they will look in 30 years time, a kitchen providing free healthy snacks and smoothies, a physical activity room with a Wii and opportunities to find out how you can save money and help the environment at the same time.

Cllr Judy Terry, Suffolk County Council’s portfolio holder for Greenest County said: “I am really glad that we are working together to help Suffolk to become not only the greenest county, but also the healthiest county."

Barbara Gillich, who is leading the project for Healthy Ambitions Suffolk, said: “The bus proved a huge success when it toured the county’s schools last year, and helped us to spread some really important healthy living messages in a fun and informative way. That’s exactly why we’re bringing it back for a second time.

“We hope the project will take the Healthy Ambitions and Greenest County message to an even wider audience so that we can encourage and inspire people from across Suffolk to take those all important first steps towards living a healthier lifestyle."
