A big crowd witnessed the Rovers EJA cruising into the quarter-finals of the Suffolk Cup with a determined display against their Colts League counterparts.

The Colts League side set up with damage limitation in mind from the start but created the first big chance of the game when Halpin forced Saville into a point blank save.

Rovers EJA quickly reshuffled and were rarely threatened after this. Towers in the Colts side goal became the busier keeper and it was no surprise when Rovers EJA took the lead.

A swift passing move culminated in Gathercole squaring across the box for Clarke to apply the finishing touch.

The second half was more of the same fare with the EJA pressing and the Colts trying to counter attack, but to no avail against the EJA defence, with Noonan having an outstanding game.

The second and deciding goal came when a Colts defender handled in the box and a confident Gathercole rammed the penalty home. The EJA side coasted to victory and earned themselves a quarter-final tie with Boxford Youth.
