College offers required training for HGV drivers

Tuesday, 12th October 2010.

West Suffolk College is offering HGV Drivers the opportunity to undertake CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) Training, a mandatory qualification for anyone who drives a vehicle over 3500 kgs laden weight.

All HGV drivers need to have completed 35 hours of CPC training by September 2014.

West Suffolk College is offering the first seven-hour module – Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving and the Safe Loading of Vehicles - on Saturday November 13, from 8.30am to 4pm at the Bury St Edmunds campus.

The cost of the session includes all learning materials, refreshments, lunch and verification to the DSA (Driving Standards Agency) that candidates have undertaken the statutory training. Free parking will be available at the college site.

If this date is not convenient, there will be additional Saturday sessions on February 12 2011 and May 14 2011.

West Suffolk College can also arrange for in-house or college-based training for groups of six or more at a time to suit your company.

Further sessions are planned on Roadside Emergency First Aid and Inanimate Manual Handling and Digital Tachographs and the Working Time Directive.
