College open evening celebrates 50 years

Wednesday, 14th October 2009.

It was the turn of Castle Manor Business and Enterprise College to host hundreds of parents, pupils, prospective parents and pupils and representatives of the business community at its open evening yesterday (Tuesday).

The college is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and, after a short presentation, vistors were able to tour the site and witness numerous different areas of education in action.

These included art, engineering, catering, business, modern foreign langauges, maths, ICT, science, English and media, geography and religious studies, psychology and history and music.

Students and staff were available to talk about their work and the exercises in progress, which included work on their inter-schools Dragons' Den competition in business, the key stage five aviation studies and financial studies in the business and training centre, and a fascinating scenes of crime 'investigation' in science.

The college's Nice Manors Concert Band were performing, and there was a chance to see the highly successful new state-of-the-art personalised learning centre.

I think it is a shame that Castle Manor doesn't get an album of pictures like the one for Samuel Ward.
