The Castle Partnership Academy Trust is inviting town residents to come along to a Community Extravaganza on Recreation Ground on Saturday, June 29.

Early years providers from schools and nurseries throughout the town will run activities for young children, including face painting and a hobby horse races.

Sports providers will lead physical games and challenges. There will also be a variety of inflatables, including sumo suits, bucking bronco and a bouncy castle, all available for a small charge.

Entertainment will be provided by Captain Calamity, who is ranked in the top ten of Children’s Entertainers in the UK. He will perform on the bandstand between 11am and 2pm, as well as mixing with the crowd.

Live music will be provided by school bands from 2-3pm. At 3pm the event will close with a balloon release in memory of lost loved ones to raise money for East Anglian Children’s Hospice and Castle Manor Academy will release personalised balloons to remember Joshua Tarrant who was a pupil at the academy last year.

The event has been co-ordinated by Becky Baldwin, teacher responsible for community and family engagement for The Castle Partnership Academy Trust.

Mrs Baldwin said: “Our aim is to work closely with local groups and schools. We have built positive links with the local community groups so that we can work together on joint projects.

"Our students benefit by enabling them to make a positive contribution to where they live, learning valuable life skills.

"Within the Castle Partnership Academy Trust we value community and family participation in the process of all through learning.

"We very much look forward to seeing a large crowd of people attend with many attractions, plenty at no cost and with brilliant entertainment.”
