Driver injured two men with a baseball bat

Tuesday, 18th February 2014.

Police are asking for witnesses to a fight in Buckingham Road on Thursday at around 6pm in which two men were injured by a man with a baseball bat.

The incident began when a blue mini was being driven along Buckingham Road and the sriver stopped to talk to two pedestrians.

One of them punched the driver through the car window and the driver then jumped out armed with a baseball bat and hit one of them around the head.

The other then grabbed the keys and ran off with them, chased by the driver, who came back with his keys and drove off.

Police were called soon after to a house nearby and found two men injured, one seriously. Neither will tell police anything about the incident.

Haverhill's police chief, Insp Peter Ferrie said police were desperate for witnesses to come forward who could tell them what happened. They think trhey have identified the driver and can deal with all three for the offence of causing an affray.
