Early morning delivery may get the go-ahead this time

Friday, 28th December 2012.

Plans to allow Sainsbury's to have one lorry delivery a day between 5am and 7am look likely to be approved next week, despite having been thrown out five years ago by a planning inspector.

Four residents in nearby Hanchett Village have objected on grounds of noise disturbance, and a petition against the application has also been submitted to St Edmundsbury Borough Council's development control committee.

Five years ago, a similar proposal was refused at a public inquiry by a planning inspector, but council planning officers say there is now new information, including the results of a seven-day trial.
