Epicentre signs up its first 'virtual' tenant

Wednesday, 13th August 2014.

The Epicentre at Haverhill Research Park has signed up its first ‘virtual’ tenant - Paul Donno, who runs an online account services business and is also the chairman of Haverhill Chamber of Commerce.

The service www.1accountsonline.co.uk is taking advantage of the incentives on offer that include the use of the innovation centre address, a domain name, post handling and conference/meeting space at a reduced rate at the nearby Day’s Inn Hotel, where free Wi-Fi is also available to virtual office tenants.

A major attraction is the Cambridge postal address: The Epicentre, Haverhill Research Park Three Counties Way, Haverhill, Suffolk, CB9 7FB.

Mr Donno said: “This is a tremendous initiative that Haverhill Research Park is offering – we gain all the advantages of having a proper business address and services without all the occupational costs and for small businesses that is invaluable.”

Nic Rumsey, director of Carisbrooke Developments, which is developing the research park, said: “What better a person to have as our first ‘virtual’ tenant than Paul Donno. He is a great supporter of local Haverhill businesses in his role as the chamber chairman and we welcome him to the park.”

The ‘virtual’ office is being offered by Carisbrooke in advance of The Epicentre being built.

The innovation centre received planning consent in the spring and recently obtained £2m development funding from The Greater Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Enterprise Partnership (GCGP) and New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnerships (NALEP).

The Epicentre, a 30,000 sq ft four-storey building, will create a landmark development adjacent to the lake in the centre of the park and provide facilities for start-up and growing businesses, with a focus on the ICT, bio-tech and Agri-Tech sectors.

It will include high specification offices and dry R&D accommodation as well as conference and meeting rooms, training facilities, and a coffee shop.

The development will offer a range of space sizes, from 170sq ft to 7,000sq ft, together with conference and meeting rooms, training facilities and a 'work-hub' area for shared working.

The Epicentre, to be run jointly with Edmundsbury Council, will also provide business advice, integrated telecoms, broadband internet access and networking facilities.

With an anticipated completion date of 2015, The Epicentre could create up to 300 jobs providing a significant boost to the local economy.

Agents for the £100m park are Cheffins and Carter Jonas. Helen Chaplin is the park’s onsite manager.
