Flavour of Italy comes to Queen Street

Thursday, 5th November 2009.

Queen Street, Haverhill is celebrating the completion of its enhancement works by holding an authentic Italian market from 9am to 4pm on Friday and Saturday, November 13 and 14.

The street will host 18 colourful stalls selling high quality traditional Italian food imported directly from the producers.

The feast on offer will include Italian cheeses and speciality cured meats, a selection of the classic Italian nougat 'Cremona Torrone', cakes, sweets and a variety of biscuits. Olives feature in many forms, including oil, freshly baked in bread, stirred into pasta and anti pasti.

The Italian market complements the traditional produce market held every week on Friday and Saturday in Haverhill town centre.

This market has a strong tradition in the town, and is at its busiest at this time of year, with the wide range of autumn produce.

Extra parking spaces in town, including three hours free parking at the new Tesco at the top of Queen Street, mean visitors can spend a little longer browsing the Queen Street shops and stalls.

The road will re-open to traffic at 7pm on Saturday, November 14.

The Italian market is aimed at building on the success of the French markets which have occasionally been brought to Queen Street over the past few years, one of which is pictured here.
