Fresh attempt to woo firms

By Frances Evans on Thursday, 9th August 2001.

A NEW BID is being made to promote Haverhill to companies, potenital employees and homebuyers.

A new glossy brochure aimed at promoting Haverhill to companies, their potential employees and housebuyers is to be launched.

The brochure is one of a range of new initiatives currently being pursued by the Haverhill Enterprise 2000 business alliance .

Keith Brown, one of the directors of the group, said: "The final proof is being circulated at the moment. We envisage it being used to sell the town to new companies and to potential employees, in order to anchor these people in the town.

"Although houses are being built in Haverhill like they are going out of fashion, the prices are still very reasonable for housebuyers wanting to move into the region.

"The brochure will include a great deal of information and will be completely different to the Haverhill Directory, which mainly provides contact numbers."

At the same time, the group has also been promoting the Haverhill website, www.haverhill-uk.com Some 400 letters have been sent out encouraging companies to input their details.

Mr Brown said: "The internet is the most efficient way to tell people what we are doing and a way of promoting inter-business trade within Haverhill. So far, I've had about 50 or 60 responses but I want many, many more."

The group is also working on improving the approaches to the town, including one of the roundabouts

Mr Brown said he would be able to say more about the project once a particular contract had been signed.

Mr Brown is calling on businesses to e-mail him with contact details at info@haverhillenterprise.co.uk at the same time as registering on the website, so they can be kept abreast of developments.

This applies to companies with the phone code (01440) and the postcode CB9.
