Genzyme Sponsors Haverhill Business Awards

Monday, 10th January 2005.

Genzyme Corporation, one of the world’s largest biotechnology companies and one of Haverhill’s leading manufacturers, has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to the town by supporting the Haverhill Business Awards.

Simon Cousins, vice-president of Genzyme’s Haverhill plant, said, “There are a number of bold statements being made that reflect the growing confidence and vibrancy of the town. We in Genzyme are committed to developing our presence in the town and actively support initiatives that will make a difference and which are in keeping with our values. We are particularly delighted to be able to sponsor the Haverhill Business Awards, an initiative that marks another positive step forward in the town's development.”

Chairman of the Haverhill Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Paul Donno, expressed his delight at Genzyme’s involvement, saying, “ We at the Haverhill Chamber applaud Genzyme’s significant and sustained commitment to our town. The decision to link with these inaugural awards demonstrates vision, leadership and a firm interest in the positive development of the local business community. The support of such an internationally renowned global company will serve to enhance the status, prestige and regional acclaim of the Business Awards and through the awards focus attention on Haverhill as a centre of excellence.”

Genzyme have agreed to sponsor the ‘Marketing Strategy of the Year Award’. This category is open to any organisation, either private or public sector, which has implemented a successful marketing campaign during the two years preceding 31st January 2005. The winner of this award will have to demonstrate innovation and effectiveness and provide examples of promotional and creative work relevant to their entry.

The hunt is now on for the brightest and best in Haverhill’s business community, with awards designed to appeal to all organisations from both the private and public sector.

Entrants only need to provide short written answers to the questions posed by the judges. Visit www.haverhillchamber.co.uk or call Charmaine Symonds on 01440 707717 or Jason Fitzpatrick on 01440 709794to request entry forms and questionnaires.

Entries should be sent to HCCI, 20 Rookwood Way, Haverhill CB9 8PB as soon as possible and no later than January 31st 2005.
