Genzyme to host comedy night for charity

Monday, 20th August 2012.

Genzyme in Haverhill has announced it is hosting a charity comedy night on Saturday, September 1, at Sturmer Hall.

The comedy night will feature the best of the up-and-coming acts direct from this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival and is part of Genzyme’s support for the St Nicholas Hospice Care Accumulator Challenge.

Along with other local companies, Genzyme has received £50 from Towergate Insurance and has been working to find interesting and innovative ways to generate as much profit as possible. All profit will be donated to St Nicholas Hospice Care in September.

The Genzyme Community Relations Team has already organised an onsite tuck shop, book sale, ‘lucky duck’ prize draw, sponsored silence and an ‘office Olympics’ as part of the Accumulator Challenge.

Sara Morrish, chair of the community relations team at Haverhill Genzyme, said: “St Nicholas Hospice Care plays an important role in the local community working compassionately in the fields of life-threatening illness, death and bereavement.

"The Accumulator Challenge is an excellent way to get people thinking about new ways to raise money and our team at Genzyme has taken the challenge to heart.

"The comedy night in September promises to be a great event and one that will hopefully add substantially to our donation.”

The comedy night is open to members of the public and tickets range from £10 to £15. VIP tables are also available at a guide price of £500 for ten people.

Dinner is included with all tickets. Tickets can be bought from Sturmer Hall (tel: 01440 705368) or from Genzyme (tel: 01440 703522).

The community relations team at Genzyme is made up of a small group of volunteers who help the community.

The aim is to become the ‘neighbour of choice’ for the local community by using a combination of employee volunteers, financial contributions and use of our expertise and site facilities.

The team aims to support a variety of local relevant projects, both employee-driven and company sponsored, with the aim of developing long-term relationships with appropriate groups.
