Halloween fun in the outdoors lined up by leisure centre

Wednesday, 23rd October 2013.

Children will get the chance to carve pumpkins, make a spooky camp fire and take part in ghost hunting archery during a Halloween Survival Challenge at East Town Park in Haverhill.

The Challenge on Tuesday, October 29, from 9am to 5pm has been organised by Abbeycroft Leisure, which runs Haverhill Leisure Centre, as part of its Explore Outdoor programme and half-term school holiday activities.

On Thursday, October 31, there will be another chance to have more sport-themed Halloween fun with ghost hunting archery from 2pm to 3.30pm at Haverhill Leisure Centre. This follows climbing on the new climbing wall from 10am to 11.30am.

For children aged six and over the popular School’s Out Holiday Camps will be running - activities including athletics, swimming, team sports, football, basketball, racket sports, squash tennis and laser blast.

There will also be film afternoons and arts and crafts. Plus there’s a new Frankie & Benny’s pizza-making workshop.

Amelia Epton, Abbeycroft’s sports development and physical activity Officer, said: “This October half-term our mission is to get children outside and enjoying activities in East Town Park before the weather turns cold.

"We have lots of Halloween inspired outdoor activities in our survival challenge to give youngsters plenty of fresh air and keep them occupied for the school holidays.”

Activities are individually priced. Holiday camps cost £5 for a morning or afternoon session. For the whole day (9am to 5pm) it costs £9.99 per child and £48 for the week.

Parents can add on an early drop-off at 8.30am and a late pick-up at 5.30pm at an additional cost.
