Havebury offers adventure holiday for NEETs

Wednesday, 20th February 2013.

Fifteen lucky Havebury Housing Partnership tenants will be able to enjoy a five-day adventure holiday to learn new skills.

Haverhill's biggest affordable homes provider has joined up with West Suffolk College to provide a group of young tenants with the opportunity to learn leadership skills, teamwork and confidence-building through group activities including rope courses and climbing.

The free trip is open to Havebury tenants between the ages of 16 and 24 who are not in education, employment or training - so-called NEETs.

The week of outdoor sports and activity will take place from March 18 to 22 at a centre in Essex and participants will be encouraged to use the experience and skills gained as a springboard on to other opportunities.

Philip Sullivan, director of operations at Havebury, said: “We run a number of programmes to support and help our tenants enter into employment.

"This activity week will be a great way to motivate and encourage our younger tenants to learn important skills such as leadership, which we hope will help them continue into a future career.”

Sherry Fry, head of school of participation, said: “West Suffolk College and Havebury are really starting to collaborate on the needs of tenants and how we can support these young adults into education or training.”

To apply or find out more about this scheme, contact the learning and employment team at Havebury on 0300 3300 900 or email office@havebury.com.
