Haverhill Angling Club News

By Rupert Beynon on Wednesday, 31st October 2012.

On a recent trip to Whiteacres fishery in Cornwall, I was lucky enough to watch the Parkdean Masters final which took place on Jenny's Lake at the complex.

With 24 anglers qualifying including the likes of Des Shipp, Steve and Phil Ringer, Lee Kerry - to name but a few - the match was going to be a battle to the end.

Overnight cold rain had put many of the larger carp off the feed, so most of the nets were made up with F1s and skimmer bream.

The winner, collecting a cheque for £25,000, who has previously won the title in 2001 was Harry Billing, fishing peg three.

Harry used pole and feeder tactics weighing in with 69lb 10oz. Second was Callum Dicks on peg four with 50lb and third was Des Shipp on peg ten with 49lb 3oz.

Closer to home, 18 anglers fished the latest Floodpark open match in Haverhill, which was won by Brian Mizon with 14lb 4oz, second Glen Carter 13lb 15oz and third was Nigel Roberts 10lb 6oz.

Section winners on the day were Sandy Dickson with 6lb 14oz and Len Stephens with 7lb 12oz. The next open will be held on Sunday, November 25, draw at 8.30am, fishing 10am till 3pm. For further details call Danny Porter on 07595631478.
