Haverhill county councillor steps down from senior role

Tuesday, 16th September 2014.

The leader of Suffolk County Council has made a number of changes to the structure of his cabinet - and it sees the departure of Haverhill's only representative at the county's top table.

Cllr Mark Bee has transferred responsibility for waste management from Cllr Jenny Antill, the council’s cabinet member for resource management, to Cllr Rebecca Hopfensperger, cabinet member for localities and environment.

Cllr Tony Goldson has been appointed assistant cabinet member for health with immediate effect, replacing Haverhill's Cllr Anne Gower who has stepped down from her role as assistant cabinet member for health and adult care.

A separate assistant cabinet member for adult care will be appointed in the coming weeks.

Cllr Alan Murray, Suffolk County Council’s cabinet member for health and adult care, will be taking over from Cllr Joanna Spicer as chairman of the Suffolk Health and Wellbeing Board, it has also been announced.

Cllr Bee said: “From time to time, it’s necessary to make changes to my cabinet to reflect the ever-changing nature of the challenges we face.

“I’d like to thank Anne Gower for her work supporting Alan Murray over these last few months. Joanna has devoted an enormous amount of time and energy to this role and I would like to thank her personally for all her work in this extremely important field.”

All other cabinet member and assistant cabinet member roles and responsibilities remain the same.
