Haverhill turned out in force this afternoon (Sunday) to remember all who have made sacrifices on behalf of the nation during war.

On a sunny afternoon, crowds lined the high street to see the parade of representatives of armed forces and voluntary services, led by a marching band and standard bearers, as it passed through the town.

It paused at the junction of Queen Street with Lower Downs Slade, where local dignitaries led by the mayors of Haverhill and St Edmundsbury took the salute.

Then the parade passed on to Haverhill Cemetery where a large crowd gathered around the war memorial for prayers, the Last Post, the Exhortation, Reveille and the Kohima Epitaph.

Wreaths were laid on behalf of the various organisations, led by the two mayors.

After the National Anthem, the parade then re-formed and led the way back into the town centre and to St Mary's Church for a Remembrance Sunday service led by the rector of Haverhill, the Rev Ian Finn.
