Haverhill's big Family Christmas Night tomorrow

Thursday, 8th December 2011.

All is set up for Haverhill's biggest night of the year tomorrow.

Organised by Haverhill Town Council, this year’s Family Christmas Night promises stockings full of seasonal treats.

In addition to the late shopping, fairground rides and charity stalls, shoppers will find some extra special Christmassy sights and sounds.

There will be frosted glam-dancing elves interacting and melting with the crowd; two ice-encrusted heroes embarking on a tragic-comic quest for the South Pole and Elfish Pressie and the Christmas Crackers making a return visit to belt out some festive favourites - in their own inimitable style.

Shoppers will also find, in bins overflowing with unwanted toys, unloved pullovers and hidden brussels sprouts, two slightly mangy moggies howling and a wailing their own tuneless versions of Christmas carols.

As the late night shopping draws to a close make your way to the Recreation Ground for the Grand Fireworks Display - it's free and starts at 8.15pm.

Some road closure will be in place from tomorrow afternoon: High Street, Camps Road (Peas Hill) and Swan Lane will be closed from 2pm to 11pm, Queen Street from 10am to 11pm and Camps Road, Chauntry Road and Mill Road between 7pm–9pm. Recreation Road will be closed from 7.30pm–9.30pm.
