Haverhill-UK Soars into 2007

By Elaine Collins on Monday, 2nd April 2007.

Traffic to the Haverhill-UK website has increased by nearly 400 per cent since last November and now stands at just under 30,000 visitors a month...

Re-designed during 2006 www.Haverhill-UK.com, which went live at the beginning of December last year, has seen a steady rise in visitor trends with figures doubling and tripling in less than three months. Figures for March have now dwarfed previous counts with visits shooting up to just under 30,000 - including over 19,000 unique visitors.

One of the most dynamic and popular parts of the site is the Local Issues Message Board. This forum offers contributors the opportunity to tell Haverhill and the rest of the World Wide Web what they really think about developments in the town. In a sense, these contributors are taking part in a quiet revolution in terms of news dissemination, information exposure and the expression of opinion.

While – at present - only carrying the postings of a fraction of those watching, the boards were viewed over 10,000 times last month alone! This suggests that a huge amount of people are reading the content. The success of the forum also highlights the growing global trend towards online interactive dialogue and citizen journalism.

Debate on Haverhill-UK has raged around numerous contentious issues and several local organisations including Tesco, the multiplex cinema, Haverhill Master Plan, Haverhill Marketing Strategy, Suffolk’s three-tier school system and St Edmundsbury Borough Council. The buzz on the street seems to end up on the Message Boards first and it's all just a mouse Click Away>>>

Recently nominated for the prestigious Creative East Awards, the new site continues to attract attention and praise from across the region and beyond.

John Dugmore, Chief Executive of the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce has commented: “The new Haverhill-UK site, with its stylish design and attention to detail, reflects the vibrancy of the town as a dynamic and buoyant environment, a place to work and invest… Haverhill-UK is a significant asset to the town’s resources.”

While Mrs M Murrell writes: “We are hoping to move to Haverhill in the spring - we now live on the Wiltshire/Gloucestershire border. We want to thank you for a superb website. It has all the information we need to help us get to know the area and the facilities and services etc. There is everything we could wish for on the site. It makes the move so much easier.”

Jason Fitzpatrick of Pure Energy Multimedia, the Haverhill company that runs Haverhill-UK, said: “Both Haverhill TV and the Haverhill Message Boards have been real winners. We hope to develop more interactive elements on Haverhill-UK in the near future. Meanwhile, anyone out there with appropriate video should send it in to us for inclusion in the TV section.”

"We're absolutely thrilled with this fantastic growth in web traffic; it's a great illustration of the enthusiasm felt by local people for Haverhill-UK.

"One way or another we are all increasingly caught up in the Web."
