Health and wellbeing forum for West Suffolk meets

Friday, 14th November 2014.

GPs, hospital bosses, Leisure Centre managers, and councillors are to meet in Forest Heath next week to discuss some of the key issues affecting health and wellbeing across West Suffolk.

The first West Suffolk Health and Wellbeing Forum takes place on Thursday at Forest Heath District Council offices.

Among the highlights will be Live Well Suffolk, outlining how the role of a new community health coach for Suffolk.

Cllr Warwick Hirst, Forest Heath District Council’s cabinet member for health, leisure and culture said: “This is the first time that we have staged this forum with our West Suffolk partners St Edmundsbury Borough Council.

“It brings all the various sectors of health together – from hospitals and GPs, through to leisure and preventative services under one roof.

"I am particularly keen to hear more on the work of the new community health coach that Forest Heath District Council has recently secured.”

Cllr Sara Mildmay-White is St Edmundsbury Borough Council cabinet member for health and communities.

She said: “This forum is designed to look at how we can all work more closely together to further improve and deliver better health services for our residents.

"I am delighted that St Edmundsbury and Forest Heath are working together to host this forum and look forward to hearing about some of the innovative and exciting work that is already underway."

Suffolk Family Carers and The West Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group will also make presentations.

The meeting starts at 6pm at the council offices in College Heath Road, Mildenhall.
