Latest angling match fought out over carp

By Rupert Beynon on Monday, 14th May 2012.

The latest Haverhill Angling Club Match, which took place at Westside Farm near Whittlesford, was a hard-fought match where most of the fish caught were mirror, common, and ghosty carp.

The eventual winner was Brian Mizon with 77lb 8oz, fishing luncheon meat on the pole in the margins.

In second place was Dave Reece with 37lb 4oz, fishing cat meat also on the pole and just a pound behind in third place was Dave Spencer with 36lb 4oz, using dead maggots and prawns on the pole.

Danny Porter recently fished Monks Lakes in Kent on a Fish O Mania qualifier and he did well, catching 42lb, which included a 12lb common carp near the end, but unfortunately the lake was won with 89lb.

Danny will also be trying his luck at Barford Lakes near Norwich on May 19, so the club wish him well for that.

The next open match will be held on Sunday, May 27, at Haverhill Floodpark, draw at 8.30am fishing 10-4pm. You can catch up with all the latest that's goinig on at the club on haverhillangling.co.uk
