Library has more than just books

Thursday, 6th September 2001.

STAFF at Haverhill Library want to let newcomers to the town, and those who have not visited them recently, know just what they have to offer.

The Library in Camps Road is open for four full days and two half days each week and now also lends out DVDs, videos, CDs and talking books.

There are a small number of Playstation games and stocks of CD ROMs are being added to the shelves. There is even a stock of jigsaw puzzles which can be borrowed free of charge.

Proof of address is all that is needed to join the library, which entitles members to a free half-hour Internet slot.

Under fives can enjoy a storytime on Tuesday mornings at 930am.

A library reading group for older book-lovers meets once a month.

A Library Homework Club is planned for the autumn and for more details ring (01440) 702638. Anyone unable to visit the library because of age or illness can use the home library.

A tourist information point keeps current bus timetables and lists of bed and breakfast accommodation, as well as place of interest to visit.

There is also a Suffolk County Council Information Centre.
