Library hosts creative workshops for children

Tuesday, 18th November 2014.

Schoolchildren in Haverhill will be taking part in creative workshops with Boyface author James Campbell and illustrator Mark Weighton, next week.

Haverhill Library will be hosting four workshops on Thursday, November 27, aimed at inspiring reading, creative writing, and drawing.

The workshops have been made possible thanks to a £200 grant from the locality budget of Haverhill North ward Cllr Tim Marks.

“Reading and writing stories, or drawing ought not only be encouraged among children, it should also be fun. Mankind has been telling stories since history began," Cllr Marks said.

“I am pleased to be able to support this fantastic event through my locality budget.”

Sanphra Willmott, manager at the Haverhill Library said: “The aim of these workshops is to encourage and inspire a love of creativity, reading, writing, drawing - in a fun and humorous way, within the library setting.

“We are extremely grateful to Cllr Marks for his support.”

Although three of the workshops are specifically for schools, a fourth interactive children’s storytelling workshop from 3.30pm will be open to any children wishing to visit after school.

It will last around an hour, is free and suitable for children aged six and over. The workshop is likely to be popular so please book your space at the library or call 01440 702638.

The event is also being supported by Suffolk County Council and Haverhill Town Council.
