Love Where You Live in West Suffolk

Monday, 25th January 2016.

Communities across West Suffolk are being encouraged to ‘Love Where You Live’ throughout 2016 by organising local litter picks.

Forest Heath District Council and St Edmundsbury Borough Council are asking residents and businesses who take pride in their area to get in contact.

The councils can provide litter picking equipment, help advertise pick events via social media and will arrange to collect the bags of rubbish.

Cllr David Bowman, Forest Heath’s Cabinet Member for Operations said: “We support clean up events throughout the year and hope to encourage more residents and organisations to participate in making a difference within their local communities.

“We are also supporting residents or businesses who want to take part in the national Clean for the Queen campaign which focuses on litter picks over the weekend of 4 March to 6 March ahead of Her Majesty’s 90th birthday in April.”

Cllr Peter Stevens, St Edmundsbury’s Cabinet Member for Operations, said: “We have a good track record for supporting communities who want to care for their local area by tackling litter. Whether it is for the Queen’s birthday or throughout the year, get in touch and we will support you in your clean up.”

Both councils are offering support by loaning litter picking equipment and collecting any bags of litter after the event. Supplies are however limited so please contact customer.services@westsuffolk.gov.uk 01284 763233 or 01638 719000.

As well as litter picking, there are other ways that you can Love Where You Live throughout 2016 and beyond, such as volunteering, getting involved in community groups or simply supporting your town or village businesses by shopping locally.

Let us know what you are doing and if there is a way that we can support you to Love Where You Live. Visit http://www.westsuffolk.gov.uk/lwyl/
