Man arrested after attacks on building site

Police who warned yesterday of the dangers of building sites and the cost to the community of vandalism on them have arrested a man in connection with a series of such incidents

A 19-year-old man from Haverhill has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, criminal damage and a public order offence following a series of incidents at the building site on Greenfields Way in Haverhill over the past week.

The site is where a replacement school for Clements Primary School is being built.

Fencing had been damaged and a man suffered facial injuries after an attack.

The arrested man is currently in custody at Bury Police Station where he will be questioned.

A building site in Hamlet Road, Haverhill, was also targeted by thieves last week.

Between 12noon on Tuesday, July 6 and 8am o Monmday, July 12, a roll of lead and two lead hoppers painted green were stolen from the site site.
