Man attacked with piece of wood and robbed

Friday, 15th April 2011.

A man has been attacked and robbed by two men while walking along the old railway line in Haverhill.

The incident happened close to Chapple Drive between 9.05pm and 9.10pm last night.

Police are appealing for information after a 25-year-old man was robbed of his wallet. He was walking towards the town centre when two men came from the Chapple Drive area and assaulted him with a piece of wood.

He suffered facial injuries and his mp3 player and glasses were found along the old railway line but his wallet is still missing.

The men are described as white and 6ft tall. One was wearing a dark-coloured duffel coat and jeans and carried a mobile phone or a torch. He spoke with an English accent.

The second man spoke with a foreign accent.
