Man Hit With Bottle

Tuesday, 8th July 2003.

A MAN eating a kebab was hit over the head with a bottle in an unprovoked attack.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the attack on a 21-year-old man at the rear of Quendon Place, Haverhill, at approximately 11.30pm on Friday.

The man was sitting in the park area with his girlfriend when two men approached them and began shouting abuse. The young man walked over and was struck the bottle.

A scuffle ensued and the offenders left the young man with a small cut to his head and a scratched arm. He did not need hospital treatment.

The first offender was white, slim, aged 16 or 17 and wearing a brown or black jumper. The second was white, slim, 16 or 17 years old and had on a white top.

Pc Cathy Durling of Haverhill police asked witnesses to what appeared to be "a nasty, unprovoked attack" to ring (01284) 774100.
