Mary is top of the class

Thursday, 6th July 2000.

THE Teaching Awards 2000 has highlighted the work of one of the region's most outstanding teachers in a special ceremony at St Andrew's Hall in Norwich.
The Lloyds TSB Plato awards, now in their second year, included eight categories from Most Outstanding New Teacher, to Classroom Assistant of the Year and School Leadership.
Mary Palmer, 26, from the Clements School in Haverhill, won a special mention in the Most Outstanding New Teacher section.
She joined the school last year after completing her training at Homerton College in Cambridge, taking over as Year 3/4 class teacher with a special interest in drama.
She said "I love working with children and am so happy to have found the career for me. Every day is different. I'm so lucky to have a job where I'm not doing the same thing day in, day out and it's brilliant for the school to win £500."
