MENTA Receives the Prestigious Prowess Award

Friday, 29th February 2008.

Menta, the local business support organisation for Haverhill and West Suffolk, based in Bury St Edmunds, has received the acclaimed Prowess Flagship award for its support for women starting their own businesses.

Menta, and its accredited women only support network WoMenta, received the highly acclaimed Prowess Flagship standard. The Prowess flagship standard is based on extensive, industry wide research and endorsed by BERR and several RDA’s. It is unique in that it is the only Quality Standard that drives better services for women and increases female entrepreneurial activity.

This award is the second received by Menta in less than 6 months (the first being the Customer First Award) and recognises the commitment Menta has made to mentoring and coaching its female customers.

Erika Watson, Executive Director of Prowess said “Our aim is to support members to
provide the most effective services to all their clients, but especially their female users. Menta has been through a rigorous and robust assessment and firmly deserves this recognition of its outstanding work for the women of Suffolk.

Head of WoMenta and mother of two, Rosanne Kilbourn, is passionate about ensuring women get the encouragement and opportunity to overcome the obstacles women can face before they become successful, enterprising business owners. She said “It is a privilege to receive this award, and to be part of a team that prides itself on having a customer focussed approach. Our “Live Your Dream” courses have helped over 100 women in the past twelve months to unlock their potential, and many have gone on to build their own businesses which means that we are supporting them through this vital journey.”
The day also coincided with the delivery of WoMenta’s 12th Live Your Dream Course, held at the Self Centre in Bury St Edmunds.
