Mother Warns Police Of Bogus Health Caller

Friday, 7th November 2003.

POLICE have praised the actions of a Haverhill mum after she refused to allow a woman claiming to be a health visitor examine her young child.

The mother told the woman to leave her home in Landseer Court after she failed to produce any identification.

Officers are still making inquiries to determine if the call was genuine.

The mother contacted police yesterday, saying that a woman who did not carry any identification called at her home at 11.40am.

The caller stated that she was a health visitor and was there to check the woman's child.

Police say the mother did exactly the right thing by asking for identification.

The caller was white, in her late 20s, tall and of slim build, with her hair in a bun and wearing dark trousers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police as a matter of urgency on (01284) 774100.
