New-style half-term fun at leisure centre

There is a new-look to the activities being provided for youngsters at Haverhill Leisure Centre for this half-term.
Tennis, laser blast, athletics, swimming, basketball, golf and tag rugby are just some of the sports on offer at new holiday camps being run by the centre with professional coaches from the town.
The holiday camps for eight to 12-year-olds will take place every day from Monday, February 21, to Friday, February 25, from 9am to 5pm.
Children can take part in the camps for a morning or afternoon, a whole day or even the whole week.
There are four different activities to choose from each day and a range of indoor activities for adverse weather conditions. For younger children activities will be held in Kid City and Tots Town including bingo, arts and crafts and a talent show.
The new camps are a change in direction to the usual activities provided at the centre for the school holidays.
Amelia Epton, Abbeycroft’s sports development officer, said: “We have made the changes in response to requests from parents and youngsters.
"Parents can now drop off their children in the holidays and while they go to work the children can try out new sports and activities under the watchful eye of professional coaches.”
Among the local coaches taking part in the holiday camps are Neal Denty from Haverhill Rugby Club, Ollie Rush, PGA golf professional from Haverhill Golf Club, Robert Jeffs from Haverhill Tennis Club, and Sapphire Cutting, UKCC Level 2 hockey coach who works with Haverhill schools as competition manager for the Youth Sports Trust.
The holiday camps cost £7.50 for a morning or afternoon session, additional children £6 each. For the whole day it costs £15 per child, £12 each for additional children and £60 for the week, with additional children at £60 per child.
