New tapas bar is up and running

Thursday, 22nd July 2010.

Haverhill's new tapas bar has opened at Bar Vu in Jubilee Walk, bringing a taste of Spain to the town.

Chef Ben Allen has prepared some tasty treats for the menu including homemade lamb koftas with tzatziki yoghurt, Cajun chicken skewers, langoustines on skewers served with homemade chilli sauce and soft vine leaves served with flavoured mince or rice, to name a few.

Ben, who lives in Birdbook, said: “I took the inspiration for the new tapas menu from the cocktail bar and prepared dishes that I feel will compliment the drinks we serve upstairs.

"Tapas is very light for people who do not want a big meal when they are out on the town and it is perfect with cocktails.”

The restaurant is open Wednesday to Sunday from 6pm to 10pm.

Owner Harry Zachariou said: “Tapas is a very social way of eating. Rather than having one big meal you can have as many or as little smaller dishes and combine them for a healthy supper.

"Tapas fits in very well with the cocktails and wines which we offer at Bar Vu and Haverhill needs a bit more variety in terms of eating out.”
